The troops prepare for some serious prawn fishing

Dear Reader,

[cue Chariots of Fire theme song] Prawn fishing is the sport of champions.  Grab your bamboo pole, double hook some mystery chum and always remember to take your prawn for a walk before trying to hook it.  Three hours at the fabulous Huka Prawn Park was just not enough for our prawn fishing needs.

Honestly, the day was chilly but so much fun.  Prawn fishing is a kiwi phenomena that needs to make it to the states.  At The Huka Prawn Park you fish for prawns using very primitive rods and whether or not you catch something is a matter of luck and not skill.  The restaurant is miserable so don’t eat there and you can return your prawns to the pond (which we did) to be caught another day.

Huka Prawn Park we will be back!

We decided that the eat 'em part of the program was best left to the Kiwis.
